Give Kids the World and U.S. Hunger Team Up With IOA for Hunger Project

The 3rd annual IOA Golf Classic is taking place at Alaqua Country Club in Longwood, Florida for from October 5-11, 2015. 120 professional female golfers, from more than 30 countries, on the Symetra Tour have the opportunity to play for one of ten coveted 2016 LPGA cards and a piece of the $100,000 purse. While the world class athletes displayed at the IOA Golf Classic is a must see, this event is driven by a local cause. By supporting the women on their road to the LPGA, you also have the opportunity to provide relief to local children who really need it.

A local non-profit, U.S. Hunger, a division of locally headquartered Feeding Children Everywhere (FCE), is participating in the last leg of the Symetra Tour to reach the goal of packing 300,000 healthy meals for hungry children in Central Florida. U.S. Hunger specializes in the empowerment and mobilization of people to provide a healthy solution to the hunger problem in the United States. Currently, the food insecurity rate in the U.S. is around 22%, which is about 3 in ten kids.

Give Kids the World (GKTW) is a 79-acre resort located near Central Florida’s theme parks, where children with life-threatening illnesses are treated to a weeklong vacation free of charge. GKTW has welcomed more than 140,000 families from around the world year after year to fulfill the dreams of children who deserve it the most. On October 9, GKTW will be hosting Marc’s DinoPutt mini-golf event. Players on the Symetra Tour will be attending to teach the kids a few golf skills and to get the kids’ autographs, since it is their special day.

Centered on “Making Dreams Come True”, the IOA Golf Classic is truly about people coming together to impact children’s lives in a positive way. By donating just one hour of your time during the course of the three-day event, you can make a difference in the lives of children around Central Florida by packing boxes of healthy meals. Several shifts have been implemented to provide scheduling flexibility. Join IOA and FCE October 9-11 at the IOA Golf Classic to swing away at childhood hunger in Central Florida. You don’t want to miss it.
