LONGWOOD, Florida. Oct. 16, 2016 – John and Valli Ritenour were this year’s recipients of the Symetra Tour’s Eloise Trainor Award. The award was presented by Mike Nichols, chief business officer of the Symetra Tour – Road to the LPGA, during the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Brunch. The event was hosted at the Alaqua Country Club, which also hosted the Symetra Tour Championship.

“John and Valli Ritenour stepped up and saved the end of the Symetra Tour season and have been so supportive of the tour for many years now,” said Nichols. “You can just tell that John and Valli want the absolute best for the players and the tour, and when Hurricane Matthew threatened the Symetra Tour Championship, they reached out to us and were willing to do whatever they could. Their contributions to women’s golf have been felt by all of the players that were able to play the final week and earn a tour card. It was my honor to present them with the Eloise Trainor Award.”

The Symetra Tour established the award in 1999 in honor of the tour’s founder and former president, Eloise Trainor, who retired on June 23, 1999. In the spirit of Trainor, who operated the Futures Golf Tour for 20 years, the annual award is presented to an individual or group that has made a significant contribution to women’s golf.

“The Symetra Tour provides a wonderful opportunity and is such a blessing for the fine young players who are working their way to the LPGA Tour,” said John Ritenour. “Valli and I were excited to be part of such a great event and to be honored with this important award.”
