LONGWOOD, Fla. (Feb. 7, 2023) – Insurance Office of America (IOA), the fourth largest privately held insurance brokerage in the United States, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeff Lagos as chief executive officer for IOA and Rob Motley as president of IOA in addition to their continuing roles on the IOA Board of Directors.
“It’s been 15 years since our last major leadership transition, and IOA has enjoyed substantial growth since that time. Building out our infrastructure with the right people provides the foundation we need to continue on the upward growth path we’ve enjoyed since Day One,” said Heath Ritenour, chairman of Insurance Office of America and chairman and CEO of IOA Group, the parent of Insurance Office of America. “These leadership transitions of both Jeff and Rob are strategic and reflective of what IOA has been doing for several years as the insurance industry has gotten more complex and we remain on our trajectory to operate and excel with excellence. No doubt this will provide us the ability to work even closer together as a leadership team to be the best generational insurance brokerage with the best culture in America.”
Jeff brings over three decades of proven leadership, operational knowledge, and deep expertise in the insurance industry to his new role. Jeff first joined IOA in 2000 as a commercial lines producer. He was elected to the IOA Board of Directors in 2003 and appointed to the role of president in 2008.
Since his appointment as president, IOA has experienced continued growth each year going from $70 million in revenue to $286 million EOY 2022. Of the top 25 insurance brokerages in the United States, IOA is one of only four independent, privately owned brokerages that obtains nearly all its increase from organic growth rather than through acquisition. During his tenure, Jeff’s leadership has played a pivotal role in helping IOA achieve prestigious rankings such as National Underwriter’s Agency of the Year award and Top Workplaces USA 2023 as well as numerous other awards.
“I am honored and very grateful to IOA’s Board of Directors for trusting me with this new challenge. As a firm, we are intently focused not only on our people but also on delivering a client-centric experience and reinventing the way an insurance brokerage operates. In this new role, I will be able to spend my time delving into all three areas,” said Jeff. “IOA has been and continues to be an outstanding organization, so being entrusted with leading the continuation of its storied journey is very exciting to me.”
Rob is a business leader with an exemplary track record spanning more than 30 years in the insurance industry. He has proven strength in leadership, business development, and operations as well as the delivery of innovative tools, such as IOA’s proprietary RiskScore® solution. Rob has risen steadily through IOA leadership having held key regional and national roles. He joined Insurance Office of America in 2003 and was appointed to the IOA Board of Directors in 2008. In 2013, he was named a region president, and in 2022, he was named East Coast division president.
“I’m excited and humbled at the same time to take up the mantle of president of IOA, a great company and one I’ve had the privilege of being a part of for so many years,” said Rob. “My commitment is to serve our people, our clients, and our carrier partners as we continue to build upon and deepen the relationships that define the bedrock of who we are as a company today and who we will become tomorrow.”
