Brian S. Smith, ARM, CIC

Brian Smith is responsible for tactical business development with Government & Defense Contractor markets. Strategic business development includes revenue growth through partnerships with centers of influence, bid and proposals, government contracts, non-traditional, non-recurring deployment of insurance capital, and deployment of alternative IOA resources. Mr. Smith joined IOA USA in 2016 as a sales executive in the firm’s Atlanta office. His responsibilities include new business development and production as well as client executive assignments. Brian has served in the insurance field for over 25 years with expertise in Defense Base Act Insurance, Kidnap & Ransom, Foreign Commercial General Liability, and Business Travel Accident Coverage. Prior to joining IOA, Mr. Smith held a variety of positions in the insurance industry to include risk control/prevention consulting, safety counseling, management, and sales development. Lastly, Brian served with the U.S. Army Reserves for 14 years, retiring in 1999 with the rank of Captain. His military specialties included Ordnance and Chemical operations.

Brian earned his Bachelor of Science in biology from Eastern Michigan University. He hold the certified insurance counselor (CIC) and associate in risk management designations. He also held the certified safety professional designation, and is currently the president of the National Defense Industrial Association of Georgia.
