ALISO VIEJO, Calif., February 14, 2017 – Insurance veteran John Patrick Unick has joined Insurance Office of America (IOA) as a senior vice president and managing director of equine and self-insured risks. Before joining IOA, he served as an executive vice president and managing director at Bolton & Company and president of the thoroughbred racing division at MOC Insurance Services.
Unick brings a wealth of experience to IOA and has been recognized as the foremost expert in the equine and horse racing insurance space for nearly two decades. Over the course of his career, he has provided insurance services to nearly every racetrack in the United States and to some of the world’s most important races, including the Triple Crown and the Breeders’ Cup World Championships. Unick participates on numerous horse racing industry panels and has been quoted in prominent media outlets, including USA Today, Los Angeles Times, Insurance Journal, and Blood-Horse.
“IOA is by far the most innovative insurance agency in the United States,” Unick said. “Throughout my insurance career, I have taken an entrepreneurial approach, and IOA fosters that mentality. IOA’s model, which has a broad reach into many major league sporting arenas, will allow my team to reward our long-standing clients with more resources while providing us with a national platform to introduce new insurance programs.”
In addition to the horse racing industry, Unick serves as a broker for more standard industries, such as assisted living, real estate, restaurant, casino, legal malpractice for law firms, and venture capital firms.
“We are extremely pleased to have someone in John’s particular niche join our company,” said IOA Western Regional President John Tenuto. “His affiliation with the equine industry adds tremendous value to our expanding sports partnerships.”
